2. Stomach acid helps to cleave large peptides through a process called hydrolysis.

When 4 or more amino acids are linked together, it is called a polypeptide. 30 or more amino acids linked together is called a protein. The molecular weight of a single peptide is measured in Kilodaltons (kD).
The table above indicates that leading collagen brands weigh in between 2-5 kD. This means 18-45 peptides joined together in their amino acid chains must be broken down by the digestive system.

“I have been using Collagen Beauty Powder for the last month. I didn’t notice a reduction in wrinkles, but disclaimer – I have never noticed that from any topical facial creams either.
